SRINAGAR: On Wednesday, three terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir. The security forces gunned down the militants during a search operation in Binner area, as per the officials.
One of the police officials interacted with the news channels and briefed that the security forces had information about the presence of terrorists in the Binner area of Baramulla district. Following the report, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area, a police official said.
The official further added that during the search operation the terrorists opened fire on the security forces, and the confidential operation turned into a gun battle.
The official while interacting with the media shared that three militants were killed in the operation and weapons and other incriminating materials have been recovered from the encounter site. The identity and group affiliation of the terrorists was being ascertained, he said.
The police in one of the statements said, “All the three were active in Baramulla and Sopore areas and had a long history of terror crimes. Based on a credible input about the presence of militants in Baramulla’s Binner area, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation. The search party was fired upon by the militants. In the ensuing encounter, the three were killed,” said a Srinagar-based police spokesman.
When reporters asked for more information about the shootout, one of the police officials informed that all the dead bodies of the militants had been retrieved from the encounter site and everything is under control in the area. Security forces have killed nearly nine militants in Kashmir valley in Shopian, Budgam, and Baramulla, in the past three days, the official added.
