Indian Railways will upgrade the first-class air-conditioned coaches of its trains under new facelift project

NEW DELHI: On Sunday, a Railway Ministry official interacted with the news reporters and discussed the upcoming projects of the national transporter. The official said that following the success of Project Utkrisht and Operation Swarn which were focused on providing premium travelling experience to the passengers, Indian Railways has now decided to facelift the first-class air-conditioned coaches of seven mail and express trains.

“The first train with the new plush interiors has been taken up in the Kashi Vishwanath Express,” said a senior railway ministry official, adding the newly renovated coach has been added to the train departing from New Delhi on Sunday.

The official while interacting with the media revealed the upcoming features in the coach. The coach will now have anti-graffiti vinyl wrapping interiors, new curtains, properly worked out bathroom even with the option of taking a shower. Besides this, the PVC flooring has also been changed, the official said.

Adding more to the information, the official said that the compressed berth cushions had been replaced and to add more safety to the trains, Railways have installed fire extinguishers in the coaches. Good quality curtains too have been provided in the coach, the official added.

The stairs of the first-class coaches have now been worked in a way so that it can provide more comfort to passengers while boarding the trains. Besides this, the bathroom has also been fitted with high-gloss mica having the marble design.

Though the Railway Ministry official shared enough information to assume that how good the services will now be from the side of the national transporter, he refused to share the name of the several other trains that will be upgraded under this major facelift programme from Indian Railways.

Earlier in 2018, the Indian Railways initiated operation Swarn and upgraded existing fleet of Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express.
